This week here in Greece, the manicure became less sweet and more controlled. The strongest signal was coolness: sky blue, milky white, transparent grape and polished pink. On 4 August, Infowoman identified a creamy powder-blue with subtle lilac undertones as one of summer’s hottest shades, describing it as particularly effective on short nails or medium almond shapes. Against Greek sun and tanned skin, this colour has real visual authority. It looks almost architectural beside white linen, marble and silver jewellery.
The shape story also sharpened. On 3 August, Infowoman placed soft square nails at the centre of the season, with a straight edge but softened corners. The important point is the silhouette: less romantic than almond, less severe than a true square. It works on both short and longer nails, and gives even a nude manicure more graphic weight.

French manicure remained present, but two opposite versions appeared. On 5 August, Greek coverage highlighted a classic pink base with a defined white tip on longer almond, oval or soft-square nails. One day later, the mood became almost invisible: sheer pink, milky white edging and high gloss, with the contrast reduced until the French line is felt more than seen.
This second version photographs better for August. Under severe clear local light, a thick white tip can become visually heavy. The invisible French leaves air around the hand. It belongs beside a black swimsuit, a hotel balcony, an iced coffee, the pale stone of an island street.
Finish is equally important. The week introduced Grape Peel Nails into Greek beauty coverage on 7 August: translucent grape tones, glossy depth and subtle colour variation inspired by grape skin. The aesthetic depends on transparency and reflection rather than opaque purple.
A colour becomes stronger when light is allowed inside it.
The emerging palette therefore moves between powder blue, sheer pink, milky white, translucent grape and clean natural nude. Techniques stay restrained: invisible French, classic French, jelly layering and glass-like gloss. Shapes favour soft square, almond and oval, but the soft square has the freshest tension this week.
The ordinary version of these trends is simply pale and polished. The editorial version understands contrast. Blue against bronze skin. Grape against gold jewellery. Milky French against black fabric.
Pretty is not enough. The hand needs tension.
Here in Greece this week, the strongest manicure is not asking to dominate the photograph. It is giving the photograph its line.
