This week, Japan and Chinese-language beauty media moved in the same technical direction: transparent colour combined with controlled reflection. The visual result may appear light, but the product system is not casual. Magnet gel, jelly pink, micro-French lines and 3D water effects all expose irregular structure. Surface preparation remains the first condition.
In Japan, Hot Pepper Beauty salon posts published between 24 and 30 July repeatedly presented glossy magnet gel as a strong summer service. Atelier Harumina described translucent “water-light” magnet nails on 24 July, noting that the appearance changes according to the direction of light. On 30 July, TRU Nail & Eye published a blue magnetic design with small floral art, confirming cool blue as an active seasonal colour rather than a general forecast.
The Japanese colour range is therefore clear: icy blue, aquatic silver, translucent pink and cool lavender-blue. Shapes remain short oval, soft square and moderate almond. The magnet effect is often used as a one-colour manicure because the moving reflection already provides sufficient detail.
Application order is important. Complete the structure first, refine the apex and remove surface distortion before applying the magnetic colour. The gel should be placed in a thin, even layer, then the particles must be positioned before curing. The common mistake is moving the magnet repeatedly. This spreads the reflective band and removes definition. A controlled highlight needs one deliberate direction, not constant correction.
For China, the clearest accessible Chinese-language trend report inside the period was Harper’s Bazaar Taiwan, published on 25 July. It identified brighter peach and pink, sky-blue micro-French tips, butter yellow with blue dots or stripes, metallic berry, near-transparent rose jelly, shell and pearl surfaces, gemstone cat-eye, peach French gradients, watercolour marble and upgraded pool nails using 3D gel over a magnetic base.
The strongest technical trend is layered water texture. Pool nails and marine designs depend on separation between the reflective base and raised clear gel. Each layer must cure fully before the next product is added. If the 3D gel is too fluid, the water pattern collapses. If it is too thick, the nail becomes visually heavy and difficult to balance.
China-facing shapes this week include refined almond for metallic berry and peach gradients, while short natural nails support rose-jelly and micro-French finishes. The broader movement is controlled variety: stronger colour, but cleaner placement.
The repeatable system is simple. Use one transparent base, one reflective method and one dimensional detail. When every effect competes, the surface loses logic. This week’s trends succeed because colour, light and texture remain technically separated.
